When Karina Fonseca was young she didn’t expect to fall in love with art, but there were demons inside of her that would lead into a path of discomfort and accomplishments.
Her interest started at M.A. Milam K-8 Center when her art teacher, from 2nd to 4th grade, Ms. Portuando, would praise her art. In 5th grade she met, Mrs. Arteaga who became a mentor for her when Fonseca wanted to become the best at her art because she couldn’t stand someone being better than her.
The last year of middle school came and Mrs. Arteaga introduced Fonseca to three art schools in Miami: Dr. Michael M. Krop High School, Design and Architecture High School (DASH) and New World School of the Arts (NWSA). She applied and was accepted by all three.
